August 9, 2011 The Lowe's Heroes Team Visit & Assess Atwood Community Gardens
This was such an important day for me and a huge breakthrough in our plans to develop
Atwood. So I called all of the community supporters we gained over the year to meet the
Lowe's team. Hopefully, our extended community partners' presence confirmed the role NEXT
Steps played in connecting with other community-based organizations that served the West
End.

Randall Burke gave a great welcome and orientation
on the history of the Lowe's Heroes program. He
introduced us to his HR team and other Lowe's store
managers.

Entrepreneur Program takes a stroll around Atwood
Community Gardens.
I invited key supporters of NEXT Steps to meet the
Lowe's Management team for the first official
walk-through of Atwood in preparation for the garden
makeover. It was a pleasure to finally see everyone in
one place.

After the walk-through, the Lowe's team gathered to
come up with an implementation plan.
We ended the morning's meeting by answering a few
more of the Lowe's teams questions. In return, they
provided us with a timeline and list of priorities.
