NSYEP URBAN AGRICULTURE PROGRAMS
Nourishing Neighborhoods, the umbrella campaign for Wholesome
Wave’s programs, benefits vulnerable consumers and our nation’s
struggling small-scale farmers. Wholesome Wave aims to positively
impact the health and wellness of historically excluded communities
through direct economic links to support America’s small farmers.
The core program in Wholesome Wave’s Nourishing Neighborhoods
campaign is the highly successful Double Value Coupon Program,
which doubles the value of SNAP, when used at participating farmers
markets nationwide.

Atwood's Georgia EBT/SNAP Farmers Market Program
How Does The System Work?
The Georgia EBT Farmers Market Program allows SNAP customers
to use their EBT card at local farmers markets. This project provides
assistance, training and new equipment necessary to implement the
EBT token system at community farmers markets. Wooden tokens
are used for currency. EBT Customer will decide ahead of time how
much money he or she would like to spend. Customer swipes EBT
card for tokens. Vendor accepts tokens for food purchases.

Atwood Farms Supports Georgia Grown
What Is It?
Imagine a picnic table filled with platters of healthy, nutritious fruit and
vegetables with side dishes, casseroles, appetizers and desserts all
made from produce grown in Georgia.  This picnic table would be an
endless smorgasbord of delicious Georgia Grown delicacies that are
tasty, wholesome, and meets both adult and children’s daily vitamin
and nutritional needs.  It is the members of the Georgia Fruit and
Vegetable Growers Association (GFVGA) that provide this wide
arrange of nutritious produce to Georgians and others.

Food Desert Locator
How is the Food Desert Locator related to the Food Environment Atlas?

The Food Desert Locator
provides maps and selected population characteristics of census tracts defined as
food deserts—low-income neighborhoods without easy access to a supermarket or large grocery store. These
characteristics are provided only for census tracts that meet the definition of a food desert.

The Food Environment Atlas provides a wider set of statistics on food choices, health and well-being, and
community characteristics for all communities in the U.S. While the Food Desert Locator provides information at
the census tract level, the smallest geographic level of data in the Food Environment Atlas is the county. The
Food Environment Atlas also has an Advanced Query tool that allows users to identify and map counties sharing
the same degree of multiple indicators.
