Birth of the Harvest
Sankofa Egg Hunt & Message Program
Atwood Community Garden's icon, we thought it only fitting to create a communications strategy that
would help bridge the intergenerational gap between our elder community and today's youth.

The Birth of the Harvest Egg Hunt and Message Program will allow seniors and kids to exchange
messages between one another by placing photos, handwritten notes, gifts, etc into plastic eggs that
they will decorate.  Once received, the contents will be placed in scrap books and later displayed at
our R&D TRENDS Social Science Fair.  As part of the garden's activities, some of the Sankofa Eggs
will be used in our egg hunts as part of the live interactive garden scenes and story telling sessions.

Registration is required for egg hunts and story telling sessions for groups that prefer to have this
activity as part of their tour package.

Groups that participate in the Egg-Hunt will have a blast
scrapbooking their day's experience and making
companion pages for the seniors that will receive them.
Our goal is to have youth and seniors share their
experiences -- demonstrating that there is a common bond
between the two age groups.

For those of you that are new to scrapbooking, check out
this
Scrapbooking 101 video.  Then make plans to bring
your group down to
tour Atwood and join in the fun!  If your
group would like to order your own scrapbooking supplies,
