What would you say if you could meet scientists, technologists, engineers, inventors, and other innovative pioneers from the past?
NEXT Steps invites you to become a part of our live interactive garden scenes at Atwood Community Gardens.   Who knows what
legends you'll meet at Atwood Community Gardens!
George Washington

History Brought to Life In the Garden
(FUTURE DEVELOPMENT)

Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to meet an influential person from the past? Well, so did
we.  Atwood Community Gardens is proud to present our live, interactive garden scenes.

The Sankofa Ashe Cultural Heritage Program will present actors as past inventors and innovators whose
inventions made a significant impact on our culture and lifestyles today.  The actors will roam the Garden grounds
and interact with our guests as if they were about to make their breakthrough discovery.  You will hear the soul
shaking drum beat rhythms of the African drums that growers in the West Indies used to honor the land and grow
their crops. Children and adults alike will enjoy re-living those critical moments with Thomas Edison or Carter G.
Woodson when their inventions finally worked.  Perhaps seeing Harriet Tubman or Madame C J Walker will
influence and inspire those who know their path.

No matter what your reason for coming to Atwood Community Gardens is, you'll definitely walk away with another
reason to come back.
